The Hemanta-Kalpana Journalism Award for Excellence on Investigative Journalism on the North East India , in memory of Hemanta Kumar Gupta and Kalpana Gupta will honour journalists from within and beyond the region both Print and Broadcast media, who have shown extraordinary strength of character & integrity while reporting news accurately, sensitively, holistically, under all circumstance, irrespective of danger and difficulty.

The Awards pay tribute to journalists who enhance the credibility of the media, exemplify the highest standard of their profession despite pressure.

The Award will recognize journalists whose work is fair, accurate and unbiased in the reporting of major issues, problems and challenges. Special credit will be given for balanced reporting, expression of social concern, are analytical in views and with insight. Reports that affects the life and well being of people, their communities and states.

A Journalists shall include Editors, Reporters, Photographers, Cartoonists, Freelancers and Documentary Film Maker - who don’t just report, but whose work has the potential to impact public policy so that the lives of people and their communities are bettered.

The Annual Hemanta – Kalpana Journalism Award for Excellence on Investigative Journalism on the North East India. In memory of Hemanta Kumar Gupta and Kalpana Gupta shall include a Cash Award of Rupees One Lac only.
